Christian Dating Guidelines

According to Keilah the most important thing you should do  when dating according to the Bible is to set guidelines.

Setting guidelines or ground rules

Guidelines help you to avoid all kinds of evils including pregnancy and sexual transmitted diseases. Guidelines also helps in helping you to obey God and stay pure until marriage. Dating guidelines keeps a Christian single safe.

Hebrews 13:4 (NIV): Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

Keilah feels that there are no grey areas when it comes to Christian dating, only black and white. You do it or you don’t.

Well I do not fully agree with her on that point. What is doesn’t say it far should you go? Should Christians kiss? Should they neck or pet?

Keilah quite correctly says that God is not wanting to prevent you from having fun by giving Biblical guidelines guidelines for Christian dating.
“Sex is meant to be enjoyed between the boundaries of marriage,” Keilah says.

One clear guideline Keilah mentions is that of avoiding having a relationship with an non-christian. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16.

Interestingly she mentions that this applies to people of other churches. Hmmmm. I am sure that people of other churches believe in God too, so why should they be classed as non-datable as non-Christians?

“Sharing your life with someone who doesn’t believe in God is a recipe for heartache.” she says.

Keilah warns against what she calls missionary dating.

“This is getting into a relationship with the mission of converting the person,” she explains. You date them until they convert.

“You are not their Saviour, Jesus Christ is,” she warns.

If you are lonely, Keilay reminds you that you have a never failing friend – God, who will never forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:8

I tend to have a problem with this concept. The concept that God will fill the need of a husband or wife or friend.

Remember Adam was perfect yet he had a desire for a mate. So God created Eve for him.

I think God gave us a need for spouses and he will not fill that particular need himself. That is why we should go out and find a great christian spouse.
